A Winter Wonderland in the School Hall!

Our Foundation Stage children recently took us on a journey to the icy Arctic for their special assembly. Inspired by the heartwarming story “The Polar Bear and the Snow Cloud” by Jane Cabrera, the children explored themes of friendship, loneliness, and the beauty of the winter landscape.

We followed the Polar Bear’s journey as he realized that while snow clouds can make many shapes, nothing beats a real friend.

The hall was transformed into a winter wonderland, showcasing the incredible artwork the children created. Inspired by the book’s soft, cool colour palette, the children used various techniques to bring the Arctic to life:

  • Textured Bears: Using cotton wool, sponges, and white paint to capture the fluffy coat of the main character.
  • Shimmering Skies: Mixed-media pieces were used to mimic the light of the Arctic sky.
  • Jewelled Snowflakes: Watercolours exploring shades of blue, decorated with sparkling silver jewels.

Of course, no Foundation Stage assembly is complete without music! The children treated us to two charming songs: a gentle, rhythmic “Snowflake Song” and the upbeat “Polar Bear Song.” To close the ceremony, they performed the school’s anthem and warmed our hearts with a beautiful poem.

We are so proud of how the children expressed themselves. Seeing their confidence grow as they performed on stage was truly the highlight of our term.
