All our Year 5 and Year 6 classes took part in an exciting live workshop hosted by the British Library. The livestream brought together schools from across the UK for a creative and inspiring event.
The session was hosted by the well-known author and poet Michael Rosen, whose energy and enthusiasm made the event even more engaging. Michael shared his love of storytelling and performance, encouraging children to use their imaginations and find joy in words.
During the session, other talented writers performed engaging stories and powerful poems all about global foods and the experiences we share around the world. The performances encouraged pupils to think about culture, community and the universal connections we share through food.
Our children also had the opportunity to draw their own “story visions,” illustrating the ideas and images that came to mind as they listened. It was wonderful to see their creativity shine! We were thrilled to be part of this event, alongside many other British schools and the experience has certainly inspired some budding writers and illustrators in our classrooms. We look forward to reading some of our students very own stories inspired by our global food experiences.
